Aldo Salinas has recently graduated from California State
University, surviving not
only the rigors of a university-level academic curriculum, but also the often
confusing and tumultuous experiences of life located on the perimeters of
campus. Also Salinas
provides some helpful tips on how to successfully manage the stresses of
college life, as well as ways to come out as a successful graduate.
One way to successfully navigate the intense and challenging academic
maze of a university is through the reliance on an academic advisor. Aldo Salinas
recommends regular visits to an academic advisor, perhaps two or three times a
semester, to make sure that you are still on the right track. Though it isn’t
mandatory to select a major right away, it is important to have an idea in
mind, and an advisor, says Aldo Salinas, can be an excellent motivator and
guide through the academic process.
Another way to help yourself stay on track is to avoid spreading
yourself too thin. While it’s easy to get lost in events, parties, socializing
and fun, Aldo Salinas says, it’s also
easy to maintain a schedule that not only allows for fun, but also provides
enough necessary time to academic pursuits. Maintaining a schedule, Aldo
Salinas says, can provide a helpful tool to avoid conflicts and achieve
balance.
Aldo Salinas had a lot of fun in college, meeting many new people and
experience many things he will never forget. But he was also able to achieve a
balance between the need for fun and the need for work. This allowed Aldo
Salinas the opportunity to have a more comprehensive and valuable college
experience, which has provided a strong foundation for a successful future.
